NotesIn 1887, Henry Mitchell, 13, arrived at Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, in a group of 10 boys from Barton Regis, Bristol, England.

"From the Reports of Inspection of Pauper Children sent out to Canada made by Immigration Officers of the Dominion Government and received from the Colonial Office on the 12th December 1888.

Report of Mr. Samuel Gardner, Government Immigration Agent at St. John, New Brunswick.

Henry Mitchell, aged 13. From parish of St. Pancras. Placed with Hugh Teakles, Annagance, King's County.?Has a splendid home; likes it well and is liked by his master and mistress, only fault, sulks. I asked the lad about this, and the poor boy with good-natured smile said: I can't help it, sir. Likes his place much better than England, well satisfied; promises to write the school, lauding his place and the country. Mr. Teakles tells me he likes the boy and said he bids fair to make a good citizen, has aspirations for his future and will govern himself accordingly."
